Application of plant secondary metabolites in nanobiotechnology: Synthesis of green nanoparticles with multifunctional anticancer and antibacterial properties

چکیده :
Plant secondary metabolites have attracted the attention of researchers as natural reducing and stabilizing agents in the synthesis of metal nanoparticles. This review article systematically reviews the latest advances in the synthesis of green nanoparticles using plant secondary metabolites and their multiple applications in the medical field. Studies show that compounds such as alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, and polyphenols found in plant extracts are able to convert metal ions into stable nanoparticles. This green synthesis method has significant advantages over conventional chemical methods, including biocompatibility, low cost, and the absence of toxic substances. Investigation of the biological properties of these nanoparticles has shown that they have anticancer effects through various mechanisms such as induction of apoptosis, inhibition of angiogenesis, and production of reactive oxygen species. They also exhibit significant antibacterial activity against antibiotic-resistant pathogens. Challenges in this field include precise control of the size and morphology of nanoparticles, increasing their stability under physiological conditions, and better understanding their mechanisms of action. However, the high potential of these nanoparticles in the development of multifunctional drugs and targeted drug delivery systems makes them a promising option in medical nanobiotechnology. This systematic review emphasizes the importance of using plant secondary metabolites in the development of smart nanomaterials with medical applications and discusses the future prospects of this research area.
