Effect of salinity stress on enzymatic antioxidant defense system of Salicornia persica

چکیده :

Salicornia persica is one of the halophyte plants with many applications, and is a suitable option for farming with saline and semi-saline water. Based on cellular and molecular mechanisms, including strong enzyme antioxidant mechanisms, halophyte plants can establish a balance between production and decomposition of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and they have obtained the ability of salinity tolerance. One of the ways to solve the salinity crisis is to use the potential of halophyte plants. Therefore, in this study, the salinity stress effects on antioxidant enzymes (APX, CAT, SOD) of S. persica was investigated through different concentrations of NaCl (0,200,400,600 mM). The results shown a significant difference in the enzymes activity. The highest activity of enzymes was observed in the concentration of 400 mM NaCl. Therefore, it seems that S.persica reduces the negative effects of stress by increasing its antioxidant activities.
