چکیده :
Abstract Medicinal plants have underpinned traditional healthcare systems worldwide for millennia (Julián-Flores et al., 2025). Recent comprehensive reviews highlight the ability of plant metabolites to act against gastrointestinal disorders and to modulate host inflammatory responses (Julián-Flores et al., 2025). Plant-derived compounds are also being revisited as solutions to antimicrobial resistance because of their multi-target mechanisms and synergy with conventional drugs (El-Saadony et al., 2025). Contemporary systems and synthetic biology approaches permit detailed mapping and heterologous production of plant natural-product pathways, improving supply and enabling pathway optimization (Qin et al., 2025). Artificial intelligence and computational chemistry accelerate metabolome annotation, activity prediction, and in silico prioritization of phytochemical leads (Varghese et al., 2025). Targeted experimental studies demonstrate that seeds and leaves of long-used species yield peptide and small-molecule leads with antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer potential (Ismoil et al., 2025; Saha et al., 2025). Integrating ethnobotanical knowledge with omics, AI, and synthetic biology creates an efficient pipeline for turning traditional remedies into 21st-century therapeutics (Varghese et al., 2025; Qin et al., 2025).
