چکیده :

Phytochemical bioactive compounds (phytoactive compounds) are natural chemical constituents produced during the secondary metabolism of plants, exerting beneficial physiological or therapeutic effects on human health. These compounds encompass diverse groups including polyphenols (flavonoids, tannins), terpenoids (carotenoids, saponins), alkaloids, and bioactive peptides, which are found in fruits, vegetables, spices, and medicinal plants. Scientific evidence indicates that these compounds possess anticancer, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and neuroprotective properties, playing significant roles in the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disorders, and neurodegenerative conditions. Extraction and identification methodologies have advanced considerably with the development of chromatographic techniques (HPLC, GC), spectroscopic analyses (NMR, MS), and bioinformatic approaches (molecular docking, virtual screening). This review article comprehensively examines the diversity of plant-derived bioactive compounds, their therapeutic mechanisms, and contemporary discovery techniques.
