Effects of mycorrhizal and rhizobium inoculation on Phenolic compounds of soybean(Glycine max L.) under copper toxicity

چکیده :

Heavy metals such as copper negatively affect plant growth, photosynthesis, and nutrient uptake by inducing oxidative stress. This study investigated the effects of mycorrhizal fungi and Rhizobium inoculation on the phenolic compounds of soybeans under copper toxicity. A factorial experiment was conducted in a greenhouse using a randomized complete block design with three replications. Treatments included four copper levels (0, 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg soil) and four inoculation types (control, mycorrhiza, rhizobium, and mycorrhiza + rhizobium). Results showed that copper stress significantly increased phenolic compounds, especially in inoculated plants compared to non-inoculated ones. Mycorrhizal and rhizobium symbiosis alleviated copper stress by enhancing antioxidant activity, improving phosphorus uptake, supporting nitrogen fixation, and maintaining plant metabolism. Overall, the findings suggest that inoculation with mycorrhiza and rhizobium can mitigate the harmful effects of copper stress on soybean
